VOX Mental Health

VOX Mental Health is a therapy practice in downtown Barrie offering both in-person and online sessions across Ontario. The team is made up of Registered Social Workers and psychotherapists, led by Clinical Director Laura Fess, RSW.

Several of their specialisms matter directly to families arranging care for a parent: grief and bereavement, chronic pain and disability, and menopause and perimenopause. They also offer family therapy, which covers the conflict and boundary-setting that tends to surface when siblings disagree about a parent’s care.

The wider practice covers anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, couples counselling, parenting support and eating disorders, using approaches including EMDR, the Gottman Method and EFT.

Fees are published, which is rarer than it should be: $160 to $185 an hour for individual therapy and $180 to $225 for couples or family sessions, depending on the practitioner. Many extended health plans cover Registered Social Workers, so check your parent’s plan before assuming it is out of pocket.
